
Tirana
Made capital of Albania in 1920, it was until the 1990s the administrative center of the most closed country in Europe. In the 2000s the building façades were deliberately painted in vivid colors, and today an Ottoman-era mosque and the concrete pyramid of the communist period share the same center.
