The capital of Catalonia, where the modernist buildings of Gaudí and his contemporaries stand within walking distance of the narrow medieval streets of the Gothic Quarter. The Sagrada Família has been under construction since 1882 and several of Gaudí's works are UNESCO World Heritage sites; the city is also a dense hub for design and architecture study visits.
