City guide
Bologna
A city known for its red-brick architecture, its rich cuisine and its learning; the university founded here in 1088 is regarded as the oldest in continuous operation. Tens of kilometres of arcaded walkways (portici) make the centre walkable end to end even in rain, and they were added to the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2021.
